Rimmel Wake me up foundation review

I would so not have tried this if it hadn’t been for magazine samples. Thankfully the soft beige sample colour is appropriate for me and I fell in love.

Love struck at first application, it glides on with a brush/sponge/fingers and covers a multitude of sins whilst actually making you look awake at 6am!

Wonder struck again when I looked in the mirror at lunch time- it still looked the same. This never happens to me usually.

Finally it really hit home that this is awesome and I will probably never give it up, when I got home at 9pm and my skin looked glowing.

I have obviously bought it now (it was £5.99!) and can honestly say I reach for this before my high end counterparts. Hell, I was wearing sheer glow at the weekend and I missed the Rimmel by 7pm.

The beauty of it is it’s pretty high coverage but it looks natural, just better! I honestly never thought I would like a £6 foundation but here we are. This is how I wanted & expected Bourjois healthy mix to be.

This wasn’t really a constructive review, more of a blatant shower of praise so I’ll try and be slightly helpful:

I have dry skin so I don’t know how it would perform on oily/combination but I’ve read very good reviews.
This is long lasting with a satin to dewey finish
It is medium to high coverage but looks light on the skin.
Covers blemishes, pigmentation and redness effectively but sticks to flaky pieces of skin. If your skin is dry by nature (which mine is) then you’ll be fine but if you have actual dry patches on your face then this won’t help anymore than any other foundation.

Have you tried this foundation? What did you think and what skin type do you have?

Please do not copy or use my before and after photographs without my consent. I do not wish to see my naked face anywhere on the internet other than on Laurasummerbeauty. Thank you!

Tous H2O perfume

I don’t write a lot about perfume but I was quite interested to hear about the Tous H2O fragrance as it donates money to Oxfam- £160,000 so far.

The bottle is very cute and water droplet shaped, for every bottle sold 15 litres of drinking water is donated to needy communities who don’t have safe drinking water otherwise.

It’s pretty obvious from the packaging that this perfume would be an aquatic scent, and that’s exactly how Tous describe it:

Top notes: organic lemon & organic lavender
Heart notes: rose, jasmine & mandarin
Base notes: white amber & ceder

For me H2O opens similarly to Estee Lauder White Linen- the top notes are fresh and laundry-like, It’s a delicate, clean and springy fragrance with a warmer and woody dry down. The notes list make it sound more fruity and musky than it is- It isn’t one of those sweet vanillary, musky scents at all, it’s very much a cool ceder smell that cuts through. It reminds me of that Rainy smell when you get past the linen like top notes really.

If you are sporty or just looking for a perfume to wear to the gym then I think you’d enjoy this.

If you love the White Linen family this is also an affordable alternative

Either way this is supporting an important cause and is a beautiful scent.

I’m considering doing a pefume collection post or some perfume stories if you’d want to see that then let me know!

Predictable Valentine NOTD

Hmmm, what could be more typical than a Valentines manicure with erm, hearts?

A Tiffany blue one?

Well not quite, but in the light these photos were taken in it looks a bit like it!

Left in artifical light, Right with flash

I used OPI I want to be a-lone star from the Texas collection with some lilac/blue holo hearts from Poundland.

These came in pack of 12 different colours and I also attempted a baby yellow with yellow-peach holo hearts, and neon candy cane stripes but as you can probably imagine: it was puke inducing!

Photographic evidence was NOT necessary, believe me!

On the other hand (so to speak) An un-expected notd came courtesy of *Chester* in Germany!

Here we have Essence Champaign- a gorgeous soft white with gold micro glitter (we just don't get drugstore nail polishes that look like this in England!)

On the thumb is Essence re-mix sparkling finish top coat in waking up in vegas.
I've never owned a flakie topcoat before so I was sooo excited when I saw this! I slapped it over OPI ink as that was the nearest dark nail polish to me at the time and spent the next two days staring at my thumb nail!

Thanks again, Chester :)

Are any of you sporting a Valentines mani right now??

MAC Naturally collection picks

Naturally is the MAC collection I've been desperate to get some of ever since the promo images came out last Autumn.

I chose A Perfect Day lipstick and Early Morning blush.

A Perfect Day is a light peachy nude, it's an amplified finish which I find a bit drying for my lips (I was thinking it was an amplified creme when I bought it) but I love the colour and the name, of course!

Early Morning is a burnished coral, it's extremely similar to Superdupernatural mineralise blush which came out with the Magic, mirth & mischief collection a few years back. I wear Superdupernatural all the time although it has more shimmer than Early Morning and less colour payoff.

This pic was taken aptly very early in the morning so it is very washed out but it's the best I can do on a weekday!

I've had a bit of a hiatus on MAC collections recently but they've got some stunning ones coming out soon- I cannot wait for the Shop Mac, Cook Mac!

Did you get anything from MAC Naturally?
